Leadership has been described from various perspectives and defined by different concepts. Based on the descriptions of leadership provided in this week’s lecture and readings, present a personal definition of leadership and explain why your definition is appropriate and relevant to the practice of leadership today. Provide an example of a current leader who embodies this definition. Explain how this individual is a relevant example of your personal definition of leadership.
The purpose of this assignment is to help you explore leadership, your views of leadership and how you plan to be a better leader in the future. You will have 5-7 double spaced pages to complete the assignment. Each of the 6 sections must be completed and you must use content from the provided articles or scholarly journal articles you locate on your own. You are required to use a minimum of 3 sources.
I. Leadership definition
Drawing on your personal experiences and the academic literature, define what leadership is (one paragraph). You must include at least one citation to a scholarly source in this section.
II. Reflection on influential leaders in your life
Reflect on two specific leaders who have been highly influential in your life. Briefly describe who they are, and what they did to be such influential leaders in your life. Support your position with specific examples.
III. You as a leader
Describe traits, attributes and behaviors that you see in yourself that you feel will help you excel and be a leader.
Describe traits attributes and behaviors that limit your effectiveness as a leader.
Describe one specific opportunity you have had to be a leader—formally or informally or describe a situation where you plan to take a leadership role.
IV. How others view you as a leader
For this section you will need to report on how others view you as a leader. Interview at least 2 individuals who would have knowledge of you in a leadership role. Please find 2 different people from different settings (a co-worker, an employer, a parent, a friend, a fellow student). You should ask them the following questions:
What would you say are my key leadership skills?
How do I influence people around me, or how do I influence you?
Can you think of an example(s) where this leadership skill/influence showed itself?
From your perspective, what are things that I can do to improve as a leader?
For the write up of this section, feel free to use bullet points to report answers to the questions
V. Your leadership philosophy and plans to act
Develop your own leadership philosophy and provide at least one concrete action you will take to apply your leadership philosophy in your life. A leadership philosophy will likely address one or several of the following questions:
How should leaders lead?
What behaviors, attitudes or attributes should leaders display?
What does leadership look like?
What values or most important when it comes to leadership?
*Draw from the literature and cite at least 2 sources to build your philosophy.
VI. Leadership and your service experience
Reflect on your 100 hours of service this semester in light of what you have already written about leadership for this assignment. Answer at last 2 of the following questions:
Did I develop any leadership skills from this experience? (If so, explain which skills and how you were able to develop them)
Did I see good or poor examples of leadership in my service experience? (Explain what you saw as good leadership and what you saw as poor leadership.)
How did the leadership I saw in my service experience match with my philosophy of leadership?
Would you do things differently or the same way as leaders you saw in your service experience? (Explain what you would do differently or the same and why).
Leadership studies demonstrate that the most effective leaders know how to draw upon self-leadership skills to in turn motivate and lead others to expand their strengths to ultimately better serve the goals of an organization. For this assignment, you will continue to study conscious leadership and look at a leadership example from contemporary media and evaluate how well the particular leader exemplifies the qualities of effective and ethical conscious leadership.
Select a relevant and topical leadership issue from current news media that revolves around ethics and ethical decision-making. Research the situation and gather information in order to evaluate the leader. Keep in mind, the issue that you choose will serve as the backdrop for your evaluation while using the key terms and concepts covered in your course readings. Write an evaluation of a minimum of 1,000-1,250 of the situation that addresses the following:
Conclude by justifying whether you think this leader supports the values of conscious capitalism. Is the leader’s leadership style effective? Do you believe the leader acted ethically in the situation? Be sure to consider each tenet of conscious capitalism in your leader evaluation.
Next, imagine yourself as a practitioner of servant leadership. You have been appointed into the leadership role in this same circumstance. Explain how the situation would be different. Address the four criteria listed above in your discussion and incorporate the principles of conscious capitalism by explaining how your personal values and style are influenced by each tenet.
Strengthen your claims in each content section with supporting citations and specific examples.

Analysis of ANA Position on Reproductive Health
Follow the instructions for the assignment. Include the introduction in this section. This is the section where the writer prepares the reader for the content. The last line of the introduction prepares the reader for what they can expect to read in the paper. Do not title this section “introduction.” Use APA 7th edition formatting for the entire paper. Specific guidelines are Times New Roman, 12- point font, double spaced, black ink, 1” margins, pay attention to headers and when to make headers bold and positioning on the paper, Do Not include an abstract, Paragraphs should be indented 0.5”, the body should be aligned left, Change the title and running header and elements of the cover page to reflect your paper. Use the MEAL plan to write the paragraphs (see after the reference section).
Once you have written your paper, make sure the font color is black and remove all of the instructor’s instructions. It should not be in italics.
ANA Position on Reproductive Health
Write the first section of the paper here. Example:
The American Nurses Association (n.d.) provides general guidelines regarding reproductive health. Specifically, the rights of the client regarding decision-making and privacy and the obligation of the nurse to provide safe care highlight the ANA’s position (2010). Keep going with your writing….
Once you have written your paper, make sure the font color is black and remove all of the instructor’s instructions. It should not be in italics. And so forth
Compare and Contrast with World Health Organization
Write the second section of the paper here. The organization you select may not be the World Health Organization, so make the title of this section match the organization you are using. Use separate paragraphs for multiple ideas under the same heading. Consider separating the different sections with second level. Example:
Reproductive health extends beyond the borders of the nation. In this section, the ANA’s position is compared and contrasted with the World Health Organization ([WHO], n.d.) position on reproduction. Kabra et al. (2016) stated, WHO “aims to strengthen health research in low and middle income countries” aimed at women’s reproductive health (p. 549)…
Comparison
This is the comparison…..
Contrast
This is the contrasting position….
Once you have written your paper, make sure the font color is black and remove all of the instructor’s instructions. It should not be in italics.
QSEN Competency
Write the third section of the paper here. Use separate paragraphs for multiple ideas under the same heading. Consider separating separate sections with second level headers. Quality and Safety in Educating Nurses (QSEN) was introduced in NSG110 Introduction to Nursing Practice at Stratford University. The competencies were designed to address continuous improvement in the safe practices of nurse through the use of specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA’s) of each of the six competencies: Safety, Patient-Centered Care, Teamwork and Collaboration, Informatics, Quality Improvement, and Evidence-Based Practice (QSEN, n.d.). Be sure to add a line in the introduction of this section to prepare the reader for what is to come.
Once you have written your paper, make sure the font color is black and remove all of the instructor’s instructions. It should not be in italics.
Analysis of the ANA Position on the Nursing Profession and Public
(Do not leave a single line or header on the previous page. )
Write the fourth section of the paper here. Use separate paragraphs for multiple ideas under the same heading. Consider separating separate sections with second level headers.
Once you have written your paper, make sure the font color is black and remove all of the instructor’s instructions. It should not be in italics.
Coach Leadership and the ANA Position
Write the fifth section of the paper here. Use separate paragraphs for multiple ideas under the same heading. Consider separating separate sections with second level headers.
Once you have written your paper, make sure the font color is black and remove all of the instructor’s instructions.
Conclusion
Here is the writer’s opportunity to summarize what has been written in the paper. Link the summary to the introduction and background to highlight the importance of the topic. Discuss conclusions about the topic and the impact on the nursing profession. This is a nursing course after all. Support your conclusions. Write a strong ending.
Once you have written your paper, make sure the font color is black and remove all of the instructor’s instructions.

Ask questions!!
Once you have written your paper, make sure the font color is black and remove all of the instructor’s instructions.
A MEAL paragraph is a format that helps guide the writer in literary analysis writing. It is an acronym for: Main Idea – the paragraph’s central focus, what you are trying to prove within the paragraph. Evidence – examples that help prove the main idea (and, in a longer paper, the thesis). Analysis – This section is the most important part of the paragraph; it is where the writer digs deep into the evidence and explains how and why it proves the thesis. Transcend what the quotation, or any other from of evidence, says and explain connections that you personally come up with. REMEMBER: EXPLAIN HOW AND WHY!!! Last Thought/Linking Sentence – If you’re just writing a paragraph, use this sentence to restate the Main Idea (in a different way!) and wrap up your thoughts. For a longer paper, connect your main idea back to your paper’s thesis. Sometimes teachers will tell you to transition to the next paragraph’s idea.
Once you have written your paper, make sure the font color is black and remove these instructions.
This is an example of the ANA Postion paper. It does not have the headings that you would have in your paper. It is otherwise formatted correctly for APA 7th edition. Remove this textbox.

Writing Assignment # 2
TCM 710
Week 10, Due Tuesday, April 5th at 11:55 PM
Discussion Board – A discussion topic for week # 10 has been posted and is due April 5th.
Reading Assignment: Read the case study – “BoldFlash: Cross-Functional Challenges in the Mobile Division”. Directions for obtaining the case study are given below.
Writing Assignment # 2 – 10% of Final Grade: This week we will be working on Writing Assignment # 2 instead of the regular homework assignment. This assignment involves reading a case study and answering discussion questions relating to the case. Material from Chapters 6-8 of the course text should be particularly helpful, but you are encouraged to use relevant material from the entire course as needed. Other than the course text, you should utilize the case study, your own experience, and additional references as needed. Considerable thought should be given to these questions and a well rounded discussion should be provided.
References: At least 2 references should be provided other than the course text. Use the parenthetical citing method for referencing where you list the author (or publication name if an author is not given) along with the date of publication at the point in your writing where the material was used. A complete reference of the work using APA guidelines should be listed in a reference section at the end of the assignment. Simply listing a website as a reference with no author, title, publication identification, or date is not considered an acceptable reference. Use credible references from peer reviewed articles or from respected organizations and publications. Do not use Wikipedia as a source.
Formatting: Writing Assignment # 2 is not a term paper and other than references only a few formatting issues will be specified. Respond to the questions in the order they are asked and identify each response by its corresponding question number. List each question before providing an answer. Each response should be double spaced and approximately ½ page in length. Include a reference section at the end of the paper. The final length of this assignment should be between 2 and 3 double spaced pages (not including the reference section).
Grading: Writing Assignment # 2 will primarily be graded based on the clarity, accuracy, and insight provided in your responses. Be sure to consider the material we have covered in the course text, your experience, and references from other sources where appropriate. Answer each question directly and provide appropriate discussion. Your writing should be concise so that it answers each question thoroughly, but within a minimum amount of space. Referencing and grammar will also be considered in the grading.
Obtaining the Case Study: You will need to purchase this case online from Harvard Business Publishing for $4.25. The following link will direct you to the case:
https://hbsp.harvard.edu/import/913729
(if you have problems with the link you may need to cut and paste it directly into your browser) Provide the user name and password you previously established. You will then be allowed to enter the TCM 710 area and purchase and download the case: “BoldFlash: Cross-Functional Challenges in the Mobile Division”. If you have problems getting the case, please call Harvard Business Publishing at: (800) 545-7685.
Writing Assignment # 2 – Questions: After reading the assigned case, answer the following questions as specified above. You are not required to return this assignment file. Return the questions and your responses in a new Word file. (Be sure to number the questions and include your name at the top – 100 points total)
1) 16 points – Identify at least three major errors or shortfalls that recently caused problems for the Mobile Division prior to Roger Cahill taking leadership of that area. For each error or problem identified, discuss the likely root cause.
2) 16 points – List and discuss at least three company strengths or positives associated with BoldFlash that Roger Cahill can utilize.
3) 16 points – Identify and discuss the major criticism of the otherwise strong research function of the company. How is this criticized area of weakness impacting the performance of the company?
4) 16 points – Based on the challenges the Mobile Division is currently facing, what specific organizational changes are needed to improve performance and get the division back on track? Provide discussion and justify your answer by referring to key concepts in the course text including team leadership options from Chapter 8.
5) 20 points – Building on your recommended revised organizational structure from question 4, develop a communication plan that will address significant communication shortfalls identified in the case. Present your communication plan in tabular form. The following resources should be helpful in developing your plan:
· I have posted an example template for a communication plan in the course information tab of Blackboard (this is for reference, you are free to modify the plan as needed). Also do an internet search for additional examples of communication plans.

Analysis of the ANA Position on Social Causes and Healthcare: Promotion and Disease Prevention
ANA is a professional organization of nurses that brings together professionals in the nursing field and acts as a platform where nurses can voice their concerns on the issues related to their profession. The organization offers a position statement on different significant issues that impact the nursing practice and the well-being of patients. The primary purpose of voicing their concerns is to ensure that the nurses maintain high standards of care while serving patients and ascertaining that the healthcare setting provides an adequate environment where nurses can perform their roles effectively (American Nursing Association, n. d.). The significant areas where nurses have issued a position is the issue of social causes and healthcare, specifically promotion and disease prevention. This essay examines the position of ANA on the issue of social causes and healthcare, specifically the promotion of health and disease prevention. It compares the position of ANA on the issue and that of WHO and investigates how the association’s position on the issue impacts QSEN competencies, the nursing profession, public health, and leadership models used in the healthcare setting.
ANA Position on Social Causes and Healthcare: Promotion and Disease Prevention
The ANA has very strong standpoints on various social and healthcare elements that affect the populace. Its position on promotion and disease prevention is that those in the nursing profession must diversify their roles in the clinical to include actions such as creating and implementing interventions that are designed to enhance the health and well-being of individuals and safeguard them from ailments and disabilities (American Nursing Association, n. d.). These strategies should be adequately equipped to cater to the needs of individuals individually and in groups, families, and diverse populations. Also, they should be structured in a manner that can be applied at different levels, ranging from primary to secondary and even tertiary levels.
A Comparison with the Position of the World Health Organization on the Issue
Like ANA, the WHO has a strong viewpoint on health promotion and prevention of disease. According to the global organization, health promotion and disease prevention allude to the process of ensuring that the masses can take charge of their health by instigating the interventions that safeguard their health and enhance the quality of life they lead by identifying the genesis of ailments and how they can be addressed (World Health organization, n. d.). According to the organization, health promotion and prevention are vital in addressing significant factors such as patients’ susceptibility to chronic ailments.
Comparison of the Two Positions
The ANA position on health promotion and disease prevention is similar to that of WHO in that both viewpoints emphasize the significance of enhancement of the health status of individuals as a critical factor that ensures that they are free from ailments (World Health organization, n. d.). According to the explanations provided by the organizations, putting in place measures to prevent ailments and encourage wellness is the primary factor that determines the health of the masses.
Contrasting Aspects of the Two Positions
A significant element differentiates the two viewpoints. While the position of ANA focuses on the roles that nurses can play in health promotion and disease prevention, the WHO’s viewpoint takes a different approach. For example, it examines the influences of the social determinants of health and actions such as effective communication, educational programs, and policies play in achieving this role (World Health organization, n. d.). It analyzes how these aspects impact health promotion and disease prevention in different populations.
QSEN Competency
QSEN competencies are the techniques identified as fundamental processes that aid those in the nursing profession in performing their roles effectively. A total of six significant elements were created to ensure that nurses maintain excellent standards of practice while caring for patients. They include providing patient-centered care, supporting teamwork and collaborative engagements, using evidence-based practices to care for patients, improving the standards of care that patients receive, safeguarding patients’ safety, and using informatics in healthcare delivery (Schuler et al., 2021). Analysis of teamwork and collaboration helps determine how using knowledge, skills, and attitude can help nurses achieve Ana’s goal of promoting health and preventing diseases.
Health promotion and disease prevention are significant elements that require cooperation between different individuals tasked with performing different essential roles in the healthcare field. In this context, registered nurses must work together with community health workers to ensure that the masses know the significance of observing healthy practices such as eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly as effective health promotion practices (Schuler et al., 2021). For example, exercising prevents excessive weight gain and, in the process, prevents chronic ailments like diabetes. The team members must know their roles in ensuring the health and well-being of patients and preventing ailments. Another significant element that is addressed while fostering collaborative engagements that can promote health and prevent diseases is having effective skills to achieve this goal. Some of the skills that can help achieve this goal include effective communication (Dahl & Crawford, 2018). Effective communication ensures that the teams tasked with promoting health and preventing ailments work together to eliminate any barriers that may impede adequate collaboration between workers to ensure that comprehensive measures are instigated to enhance health and prevent ailments.
Analysis of ANA Position in the Nursing Profession and Public Health
ANA emphasizes the significance of all individuals accessing effective healthcare needs that align with their diverse needs. According to the association, those in the nursing profession can play a vital role in ensuring that the health of the public is optimal by putting in place measures that promote health and disease prevention (Dahl & Crawford, 2018). These measures include engaging in advocacy programs that help create regulations to ensure this critical need is met. Subsequently, it includes using resources such as health information technology to ensure that all individuals are aware of the need to promote the healthy practice to prevent incidences of diseases.
Leadership and ANA Position
The leadership style that healthcare organizations adopt is fundamental in determining whether the ANA position is addressed effectively. For example, the use of the transformational leadership model is vital in implementing the ANA position because it helps the workforce set achievable goals of attaining a certain goal and puts in place adequate measures to achieve its goal (Moon et al., 2019). This process is significant because it promotes effective conveyance of information between different parties, which is an aspect that aids in reducing conflicts in the healthcare setting hence increasing the efficiency with which different processes are implemented that ensure that patients receive quality care that meets their diverse needs.
Conclusion
The positions made by ANA on different issues are significant in transforming the approaches used in healthcare dissemination by ensuring that they consist of standard practices that are structured to improve the quality of care that patients receive. Comparing the ANA’s position on promotion and disease prevention shows several differences and similarities. Nevertheless, both organizations emphasize the need to instigate measures that promote health and prevent the prevalence of ailments. QSEN competencies such as teamwork and collaboration elaborate on how KSA can be applied to ensure that nurses fulfill the goals inherent in the ANA position.
